Blake McFarland Driftwood Horse

On a remote stretch of the Sonoma County coast, Blake McFarland embarked on a journey to bring a life-sized horse to life—crafted entirely from driftwood shaped by the sea. With no prior experience working with driftwood, he had no certainty of the outcome, only a vision and the patience to see it through. Over the course of two days, he carefully pieced together the sculpture, letting the wood’s natural forms guide him. And when it was complete, he returned it to the elements, dismantling his creation and surrendering it back to nature.
